Follow these steps to initialize your Trézor hardware wallet securely

Connect Your Trézor

Plug your Trézor device into your computer using the included USB cable. The device will power on automatically.

Install Trézor Bridge

Download and install Trézor Bridge for secure communication between your device and browser:

Create Your PIN

Your Trézor will prompt you to set up a secure PIN. This protects your device from unauthorized access.

Security Recommendation

Choose a PIN that's difficult to guess and never share it with anyone. The PIN is required every time you connect your Trézor.

Backup Your Recovery Seed

Your device will generate a 12-24 word recovery seed. Write these words down in the exact order on the provided recovery card.

Critical Security Step

This seed is the ONLY way to recover your funds if your Trézor is lost or damaged. Store it securely offline and never digitize it.

Install Firmware

Your Trézor will check for and install the latest firmware updates. This ensures you have the newest security features.

Do not disconnect your device during this process.

Once setup is complete, you can access your wallet through Trézor Suite - the official interface for managing your cryptocurrencies.

What if I lose my recovery seed?

Without your recovery seed, you cannot recover your funds if your Trézor is lost, stolen, or damaged. We strongly recommend storing multiple copies in secure locations.

Can I change my PIN later?

Yes, you can change your PIN at any time through the device settings in Trézor Suite. Your existing PIN will be required to make changes.

What browsers are supported?

Trézor Bridge works with Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. We recommend using the latest version of your browser for optimal security.

How often should I update firmware?

Always install firmware updates when available. These often include important security improvements. Trézor Suite will notify you when updates are available.
